A Little Poem for World Nursery Rhyme Week

Writer's picture: Sandy KernsSandy Kerns

Puggle Snuggle by Sandy Kerns

Have you ever held a puggle

for a snuggle snuggle snuggle

oh you must enjoy a snuggle

with a puggle puggle puggle

With her little ears flying back

at her full speed she runs runs runs

you will laugh at this fun fun fun

Reward her with a yummy treat

and give her ample room room room

through a hoop she will zoom zoom zoom

Short and round with her head held high

feet lifting off the ground ground ground

with eyes shining she clears the hoop

yipping a happy sound sound sound

When playtime is almost over

hold the puggle puggle puggle

for her to give and receive a

loving snuggle snuggle snuggle

Nursery rhymes are so much fun for children and are a big boost to fostering language development. Even the simplest of rhymes can promote literacy development and encourage children in developing social emotional well-being.

An adult can bring to life a nursery rhyme while repeating words and similar sounds, lifting and lowering their voice to differentiate vocal tones and adding physical gestures to demonstrate the nursery rhyme story movements.

Why don't you give a try to reading this nursery rhyme aloud? I bet you won't be able to keep from smiling as you imagine the antics of a Puggle Snuggle!

If you would like to learn more about the benefits of nursery rhymes and even read a few of my original poems written for early childhood, just email me, sandy@astoryshop.online, and I'll send you a few photos with poems I've developed featuring the animals here at Winter's Grace Farm.
